We wanted to launch WHISKY WEEK here on the blog for a few reasons. First of all, it’s a guy thing. And since Father’s Day is around the corner, what better way to celebrate dad than bringing him all things “guy” – whisky, whisky breakfast, whisky bbq, whisky dessert.
There are a few more reasons why whisky is taking over. And it’s not just a guy thing. It’s a hot trend right now, partly due to the tv show Mad Men. Don Draper and his crew are bringing back this sexy and nostalgic trend for both men and women. Not only are the classic big whisky brands gaining in popularity, but there is a whole new slew of whisky micro-distilleries in the states that are creating critically acclaimed product.
The ultimate goal of WHISKY WEEK is to celebrate with the connoisseurs the sophisticated pleasure of tasting, smelling and swirling whisky and to get the novices to give it a try. Even if that means starting off slowly, with a yummy, summery, whisky cocktail.
