Baked Apple Recipe

These Apple Bakers were designed to cook an apple with the heat from an ordinary tea light. The enticing aroma of baking apples will delight your guests almost as much as our tasty dessert and breakfast apple recipes.

If your taste runs more to savory than sweet, try Emeril Lagasse’s Goat Cheese-Stuffed Baked Apples or our new Blue Cheese and Port Baked Apples.

Blue Cheese and Port Baked Apples: (Recipe Serves 2)

2 Roman Beauty Apples (alternate Granny Smith)
4 teaspoons crumbed blue cheese
2 tablespoons dried cranberries
2 tablespoons toasted, chopped walnuts
1/3 cup apple cider
2 tablespoons port
1/4 cup (lightly packed) brown sugar

  • Combine blue cheese, cranberries and walnuts in small bowl. Remove core from the apple so you have a cavity for the mixture (a melon baller works great, leave the bottom of the apple intact so the mixture won’t escape). Fill cavity with blue cheese, cranberries and walnuts.
  • Mix port, apple cider and brown sugar in a bowl, until the sugar dissolves.
  • Place cheese, cranberry and walnut mixture in Villeroy & Boch Apple Baker. Drizzle the port mixture over apple.
  • Microwave apples for 1 minute and 30 seconds. (This will speed up your cooking time.)
  • Light the tea light. Place cover on Apple Baker. Cooks in 1 hour. Remove the inner tray off of the heat and place on serving plate. (careful: the Apple Baker will be extremely hot to the touch)
  • Serve apples warm over frisee or argula salad with a simple balsamic vinaigrette dressing.
