The Feast of St. Nicholas

It is a German tradition for children to leave a boot and a paper plate outside their bedroom door on the eve of December 5 in hopes that St. Nicholas would stop by.

According to tradition, when the seasonal skies turn red at sundown, it is a sign that the angels are baking cookies for all the good children. These cookies would be given to St. Nicholas for him to deliver on December 6.

If you were good, St. Nicholas would fill your boot with apples, mandarins and nuts and your paper plate with candies and cookies baked by the angels.

Villeroy & Boch has embraced this magical tradition and created Toy’s Fantasy, a colorful collection of porcelain plates that resemble the paper plates of our childhood. A wonderful tradition to start with your family and keepsakes to cherish for years!

This adorable collection has been expanded to include platters, bowls and candy dishes. Toy’s Fantasy mixes easily with other patterns to create a festive and joyful table for the holidays.
